Will It Do Burnouts? Your Questions About the 2025 Ram 1500 Answered

Will it lead to burnouts? Your questions about the 2025 Ram 1500 answered

The 2025 Ram 1500 mainly breaks with convention by ditching the V8 and embracing more technology and luxury. Continuing from last year, the range starts with a 305 hp 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine. The significant development, however, lies in the introduction of two different twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre six-cylinder Hurricane engines, which replace the V8 options and are available in multiple trim levels.

Before we drove some of these trims, we asked you what questions you had about the latest and greatest Ram on the market. Here are your answers.

Unsurprisingly, the question with the most votes concerned the new powertrains. You specifically asked what our thoughts were on the new Hurricane engines. We have most of that in our separate reviews of the Ram 1500 Tungsten and the 1500 rebel. Both the basic 420 hp SST engine and the 540 hp High Output versions are good, but only the latter is really fast.

Review: The 2025 Ram 1500 Rebel adds six-cylinder turbo power and playfulness

What fuel do they run on?

Plus you wondered what type of fuel everyone was using. Ram tells Carscoops that the base SST Hurricane works fine on midrange, but he still recommends running on premium. On the other hand, the High Output must have high-quality fuel to achieve its maximum power and torque. Knock sensors will shorten the timing if someone fills up with substandard gas, but Ram didn’t say how much the power will drop.

Will the Ram Charger get an off-road trim? How soon will it reach the showroom floor?

Ram has been pretty quiet on the details here, but don’t be shocked if you see a few off-road trims when it comes to the RamCharger. Additionally, expect it to hit showrooms in or around October.

Does it cause good burnouts? Asks for a friend.

We didn’t have a safe place to try this, but if we did, we would strongly advise against it. It would probably produce fine (not good) burnouts, but remember that both the Rebel and Tungsten come standard with all-wheel drive. The right place to get into this kind of trouble is on dirt roads, where we can confirm the Rebel’s tires spin over and over again.

What are the box configurations and which trims get the HO engine?

Let’s break this down into two questions. First, there are two cabs, Crew Cab and Quad Cab. The first is available with a 5’7” box or a 6’4” box. The latter is only available with a 6’4” box.

Second, the High Output inline six is standard on the Limited Longhorn, the Limited and the Tungsten. Interestingly enough, it’s not even available on the other trims. The standard twin-turbo is available on the Tradesman and Big Horn, but standard on the Rebel and Laramie.
