Recently South African tuner Big bite performance tore the curtain off an EA888-powered first-generation Golf GTI. Now, Fully leaded has redesigned the Mk1 Volkswagen Golf GTI for the future, with the digital maker releasing its interpretation of a modern Mk1, and it looks spectacular. Check out the images below…

Inspired by the Mk1 GTI, the stunning virtual recreation retains the iconic shape of the original. However, to bring the Giugiaro-designed model up to date, it features a range of contemporary design cues, while remaining faithful to the various styling cues synonymous with the Wolfsburg marque’s first GTI-badged VW hot hatch.
The render shows the iconic red styling accent on the front grille, which is closed off here. The latter shade is carried over into the honeycomb motif of the lower front grille. Round headlight clusters, with pixelated LED lighting units that can be customized to a selection of motifs, are also featured. An illuminated “VW” badge can also be found at the front. ‘Round rear, a huge diffuser, full of subtle red details for the central slit, is placed under rectangular taillights.

As a reminder, this year VW is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its illustrious namesake “GTI”, with the German brand introducing the Mk8.5 Golf GTI Clubsport to celebrate the golden anniversary of the front-wheel drive hot hatch. This model features the company’s familiar 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, which has been tuned to deliver 221kW and 400Nm of torque for the latest model.
