The Pagani Huayra finally gets a manual

Like the Zonda, Pagani will likely keep building special versions of the Huayra hypercar until customers stop asking for them. We’ve seen the Codalunga, the Imola, and the Huayra R. Now, Pagani is debuting a new version at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, and it’ll have a manual.

That’s right, this is the first Pagani Huayra with a manual transmission. The aptly named Huayra Epitome, intended to represent the pinnacle of Pagani, was commissioned by an exceptionally wealthy client who wanted a Huayra with a manual transmission. The seven-speed gearbox comes from Xtrac and uses “the latest triple-plate clutch for improved torque transfer.” And it’s housed in a gorgeous open aluminum port, just like the Utopia.

That seven-speed manual transmission is paired with a twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter V-12 engine from Mercedes-AMG that makes 852 horsepower and 811 pound-feet of torque and revs to 6,700 rpm. The Huayra Epitome has the same amount of power as the Utopia, allowing it to reach a top speed of 217.5 mph. A six-barrel titanium exhaust system channels sound out the rear of the Huayra, complete with a blown diffuser for added downforce.

Elsewhere, engineers have tightened up the suspension. The Epitome has less pitch and roll than the standard Huayra, Pagani says, but there’s a “Super Soft” mode that keeps the ride as comfortable as possible for, you know, cruising around Monaco or along the shores of Lake Como. That mode automatically disengages at 93 mph.

The exterior gets a light redesign, with front and rear bumper treatments featuring new LED lighting accents and a larger grille for improved airflow. A massive integrated rear spoiler graces the trunk lid, and the entire bodywork is draped in a dark blue carbon fiber weave. Gold accents and gold wheels complete the chic look.

The car was built by Pagani’s Grandi Complicazioni special vehicles division and took nine months to plan, and another ten months to complete. But if you want one, you’re out of luck. This will be the only Huayra of its kind.
