The Denza Z9 was officially launched at the 2024 Guangzhou Auto Show. The vehicle has a starting price of 334,800 yuan (46,200 USD) for the plug-in hybrid version and 354,800 yuan (49,000 USD) for the pure electric version.
More about the Denza Z9
The overall design of the Denza Z9 is similar to that of the Denza Z9 GT, with sleek headlights combined with independent LED light strips. The front grille features a black mesh air intake flanked by laser radars on each side. The plug-in hybrid version also features an active grille above the license plate.

The Z9 has a three-box sedan-style design, with larger triangular windows at the rear and no black trim on the sides, unlike the Z9 GT. The rear features hourglass-shaped taillights, an illuminated Denza logo and a body-colored rear bumper with an electric spoiler.
The plug-in hybrid version measures 5235/1990/1500 mm, with a wheelbase of 3125 mm. The purely electric version is slightly shorter at 5220 mm.
The front cabin largely retains the design of the Z9 GT, with a 13.2-inch fully digital instrument cluster, a 17.3-inch central touchscreen, a 13.2-inch front passenger entertainment screen and a 50-inch heads-up display . The gear lever has been upgraded to a columnar design, freeing up space in the center console for a covered storage compartment, cupholders and a central armrest. Two 50-watt wireless phone charging pads remain standard.

The rear cabin offers significant upgrades, including 8-way power seats, 2-way manual headrests, power leg rests and seat cushions that can move forward 65mm and tilt up 10 degrees. The vehicle is also equipped with the same advanced features as the Z9 GT, including a crab walk mode (diagonal movement), compass-like U-turns and advanced autonomous parking.
The Denza Z9 offers both plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and pure electric versions.
- PHEV version: Powered by a 2.0T engine and three motors (one front, two rear):
- 2.0T engine: maximum power of 152 kW
- Front engine: Maximum power of 200 kW
- Two rear motors: each with a maximum power of 240 kW.
- Battery: 38.5 kWh LFP battery with a CLTC electric range of 201 km
- Pure electric version:
- Front engine: Maximum power of 230 kW
- Two rear motors: each with a maximum power of 240 kW
- Battery: 100 kWh LFP battery with a CLTC electric range of 630 km
The Denza Z9 is expected to compete with other NEV luxury sedan models such as the Avatr 12 and the Nio ET7. However, most competitors only offer purely electric powertrains. As hybrid powertrains become increasingly popular in China, the Z9 is expected to fill the hybrid luxury sedan niche for Denza and the larger BYD range.
