Hyundai today announced the prices for the powerful N variant of the Ioniq 5 SUV. The dual-motor, all-wheel drive EV costs $67,475 (after $1,375 destination charge), about $25,000 more than a base model Ioniq 5.
This still remains in line with N petrol car prices as the Ioniq 5 costs N$8,700 more than the top trim Ioniq 5. At $67,475, the Ioniq 5 N comes fully equipped, meaning there are no factory options to increase that final price.
And that price includes a lot of goodies. Buyers get double the horsepower of a top-of-the-line Ioniq 5, as well as improved battery cooling, four-pot, 15.8-inch front brakes paired with stronger regenerative braking, forged wheels, more aggressive styling and retuned suspension.
In its class, the Ford Mustang Mach E GT Performance and Tesla Model Y Performance both undercut the base price of the Ioniq 5 N, but both also have about 100 horsepower less. The Ioniq 5 N costs about $5,000 more than Kia’s high-performance EV6 GT, but falls just short of the Genesis GV60’s performance; both cars share their underpinnings and high-performance goals with the Ioniq 5.

However, Hyundai has made the Ioniq 5 N much more playful than its platform brothers, with the addition of “N Grin Boost” – a high-performance mode that increases power to 641 hp for up to ten seconds – simulated “manual” shifting and drift-specific driving modes. It also has 65 more horsepower than the Kia and a whopping 158 more horsepower than the GV60, and we found it to be a very fun drive.
The real question that remains is whether buyers can even get an Ioniq 5 N anywhere near its MSRP. Early reports indicate that dealers are already creating lists of potential buyers, indicating high demand and low supply, meaning this hot hatch may rarely be found at its sticker price.
