Skywell Skyhome: 617hp Chinese limousine EV confirmed for UK launch

Innovation Automotive, the British importer of the Chinese EV brand Skywell, has announced that it is launching a striking luxury sedan after the compact crossover BE11.

The Skyhome is a four-seater with an emphasis on in-car entertainment and advanced technologies, with a design inspired by Chinese architecture.

For example, the front lighting refers to the upwardly curved roof of a Chinese pavilion. The back features a series of small LED ‘pixel’ lights, each depicting important milestones in Chinese history, such as the year paper was invented and the year the People’s Republic of China was founded.

The active rear spoiler, which can be extended to increase downforce by 5% at high speeds or in poor conditions, is a further reference to the pavilion roof.

Inside, the Skyhome is inspired by a traditional Chinese courtyard, with LED light pillars flanking a large infotainment and instrument touchscreen.

The system includes an artificial intelligence (AI) assistant called Xiaowei, whose functions are said to be as far-reaching as navigation, time management and even financial advice.

The two rear seats, accessed via Rolls-Royce-style hinged doors, slide and recline and have a massage function.

Tablets are mounted in the backrests of the front seats that control key functions, including rear seat adjustment, and allow rear passengers to participate in work meetings while on the road.

Skyhome TV

There’s also a large ceiling-mounted television that folds out to accommodate rear passengers, like the one in the BMW i7. This screen can also be used for work, but can also be connected to a gaming console for entertainment.

Skywell has not yet released any technical information, such as the size of the screens or the full performance of Skyhome’s powertrains.

However, it is said that the sedan will be available with single and twin-motor powertrains, with the latter producing 617 hp, giving a 0-100 km/h sprint time of 3.5 seconds.
