In an effort to make the local C5 model range more accessible, Omoda South Africa has launched the C5 1.5 Street, a new entry-level derivative, in South Africa.

The new entry-level entry for Omoda SA’s C5 model range costs from R329,900, making it R35,000 cheaper than the previous entry-level model, the C5 1.5T 230T Style. The C5 Street, like its C5 stablemates, comes with a 10-year/1 million km warranty (for the first owner) as standard. As with the aforementioned Style model, a two-year/25,000km service plan is included in the sticker price (as a reminder, the remaining variants have a five-year/70,000km service plan as standard).

What can you expect from the latest C5? For starters, unlike the four-cylinder turbo engines of its C5 siblings, the new base-spec derivative is powered by a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with the same number of cylinders. The naturally aspirated petrol engine produces 83 kW and 138 Nm of torque. As a reminder, the 230T and 290T badged models (turbocharged) produce 115 kW/230 Nm (in the 1.5-litre turbo petrol) and 145 kW/290 Nm (in the 1.6-litre turbo petrol) respectively. GT). . The C5 Street is only available with a continuously variable transmission (CVT).
According to Omoda SA, the naturally aspirated 1.5-liter engine consumes an average of 7.3 l/100 km, 0.4 l/100 km and 0.5 l/100 km more than the 1.5-liter turbo petrol and 1.6- liter turbo petrol’s claimed figures of 6.9 l/100 km and l/100 km respectively.

From the outside, the C5 Street’s headlight units house halogen lights and LED daytime running lights. The new model sits on a set of 17-inch alloy wheels. The exterior color palette includes a quartet of shades to choose from: Aerial Silver, Carbon Crystal Black, Khaki White and Phantom Grey.
Stepping inside (via standard keyless entry; push-button start is also included), Street Spec features a duo of 10.25-inch displays, one for infotainment and the other for the digital instruments. The infotainment system includes wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. USB ports can be found at the front and back of the cabin. There is also a four-speaker sound system. The package also includes automatic climate control, a rearview camera system and rear parking sensors. The manually adjustable front seats are covered with fabric. In terms of safety, the Street has dual front and front side airbags. Isofix child seat mountings are also available.
