Official Avatar 07 interior photo leads to spaceship comparisons

Today, Avatr published official interior photos of its upcoming Avatr 07 SUV. This has already caused a lot of excitement, with commentators on the Chinese internet comparing it to the cockpit of a spaceship.

Where the first row scores high is in its pure symmetry and high-tech look. Although the basic configuration is very similar to the Avatr 12, it provides a completely different feel thanks to the better contouring in the Avatr 07.

The official image shows the interior in a shade of brown with gold accents. While there’s a floating central infotainment screen, it’s the wraparound display at the back of the dashboard that really catches the eye. As with some older Citroëns, the instrument cluster sits in the middle of this, with the ends housing the side camera screens – the Avatr 07 has cameras in place of mirrors.

We can also see dual wireless phone charging pads and dual cup holders with lids that presumably drop down when drinks are placed in them. The Avatr 07 will use Huawei’s HarmonyOS to control the cockpit. Notably, the cockpit doesn’t appear to have any physical buttons, with everything being controlled via touchscreen or voice.

The Avatr 07 is expected to have around 25 speakers, with three visible on the rear door alone, and Chinese media say the sound system will come from a well-known British manufacturer. The rear seat has a large folding armrest with controls for adjusting the angle, heating, ventilation and massage functions along with the sun visor.

The Avatr 07 will come in both fully electric and range-extended versions, and both will be available with single and dual motor options. A 115kW 1.5-liter engine from Changan acts as a range extender. For the rear-wheel drive version, a 231kW motor provides power, while for all-wheel drive versions, a 131kW motor is added to the front axle. Top speed is 190km/h. The EREV will reportedly use a 39kWh battery pack.

All electric versions have a 252 kW motor in the rear and for the four-wheel drive Avatr 07 an additional 188 kW motor in the front.

Based on the current amount of news, Avatr 07 is likely to launch in Q3.
