On January 23, Great Wall Motor’s Haval brand published more official images of its second-generation H9 SUV. Unlike the previous images, the new car is painted white against a nighttime background. The launch is expected to take place in the first half of 2024.

The body shape is straight, with a large rectangular grille, traditional door handles, black roof racks, a panoramic sunroof and 19-inch dual six-spoke wheels. The Haval letter logo is further embedded in the grille.

Depending on the rear configuration, three sizes are offered, namely an external spare wheel or a storage box:

  • Wheelbase of 5070/1976/1930 mm and 2850 mm
  • Wheelbase of 4950/1960/1930 mm and 2850 mm
  • Wheelbase of 5000/1976/1930 mm and 2850 mm

Two seat layouts are available: 5-seater and 7-seater.

At the rear, the tailgate can be opened sideways and the taillight groups on both sides are arranged vertically, in the shape of an “8”. There is also a spare wheel mounted underneath.

Power will come from a 165 kW/385 Nm 2.0T petrol engine or a 137 kW/480 Nm 2.4T diesel engine, mated to an 8-speed AT or a 9-speed AT respectively. The new car is also equipped with BorgWarner’s TOD (Torque-On-Demand) all-wheel drive system. In addition, the 2.0T version has a total consumption of 10.7 l/100 km (WLTC). The approach and departure angles of the new Haval h9 are 31° and 26° respectively. Dragging is also supported.

The second generation Haval H9 could adopt the same interior styling as the Haval Raptor. Based on the spy shot of the interior, it can be seen that the air conditioning outlets are located below the central control screen and the center console is occupied with several physical buttons.

Moreover, it is worth pointing out that the new Haval H9 was showcased in Russia in December 2023. This could be the overseas version. The powertrain remains consistent with a 2.0T petrol engine and a 2.4T diesel engine, but does not feature all-wheel drive.

We’ll keep a close eye on it for more information.
