Organizers of the Geneva Motor Show have unveiled a full list of exhibitors for the 2024 edition, which kicks off at the end of next month in a much smaller and more public-facing format than in previous years.
Renault, Dacia, MG, BYD and Lucid will be the only mainstream carmakers at the show, which returns in 2024 after a five-year hiatus but will include several well-known lower-volume brands – including Kimera, Microlino, Silence and Totem Automobili in the full list of 29 exhibitors, as well as commercial vehicle manufacturer Isuzu.
Confirmed new car reveals so far include the Renault 5, MG 3 and a new model from Microlino. The winner of the 2024 European Car of the Year award will also be announced.
The 2024 edition of the Geneva Motor Show will be more openly aimed at the public than in previous years, with the introduction of four new ‘experiential’ zones designed to showcase the show’s overarching theme: ‘Auto’ . Future. Now’.
There is an Adrenaline Zone dedicated to high-performance vehicles and motorsports, while the Design District will host exhibitions by Pininfarina and legendary designer Frank Stephenson, the Mobility Lab will showcase various forms of personal and shared transportation, and the Next World area is designed in collaboration with Polyphony Digital to provide a vision of ‘the future of the automotive sector’.
As part of that exhibition, Polyphony will display a range of GT Vision concepts designed by car manufacturers for their Gran Turismo racing games.
Show boss Sandro Mesquita told Autocar that this push for “content tailored to the audience” is intended to help showgoers “decipher the theme of Auto Future Now”.
He said the different show zones will evolve year on year based on emerging themes and technologies, but “the brands will remain the stars of the show”.
Organizers aim to sell 200,000 tickets this year for the event, which runs from February 26 to March 3. Dates for the 2025 edition will be confirmed at the end of this year’s event.
The Geneva International Motor Show (GIMS) aims to “increase the number of brands present” in the coming years, said organization president Alexandre de Senarclens, as he noted the absence in 2024 of all Stellantis, VW Group and Hyundai Motor brands Group recognized. among other things.
“We want to be back as the premier international car show in the world,” he said. ‘We previously had a very important position in that sector and we want to regain that position.
“We are convinced that we have an important role to play in the revolution of the automotive industry, so the idea is to convince not only the public, but also all the other brands that will not participate in 2024.”
