Interior details of Xiaomi SUV visible as the car prepares for launch

Recently, more photos and information have surfaced about the upcoming Xiaomi SUV codenamed MX11. Perhaps most importantly, we get more detailed information about the interior. An earlier spyshot showed that the center console would be different from that of the SU7, and the new information suggests that the interior of the SUV will be quite different.

In a shot in the dark of a test car, part of the interior can be seen through an open window. Interestingly, it looks like there’s a long, thin screen that runs the length of the dashboard. Patent information indicates that this is called the ‘first display’ and is intended to facilitate the driver’s viewing of vehicle information and improve driving safety. It’s not clear if this will work in conjunction with a larger infotainment screen or if it will replace it.

Additionally, some annotated photos of what are believed to be the SUV’s door panels have surfaced online. They come in two different colors, bone snail purple and red-orange. From this we can see that the doors open with a push button on the door handle and that there is a mechanical backup in the storage compartment.

A nighttime recording of the car charging reveals that the new Xiaomi will have a halo or semi-halo light pattern on the rear. The Xiaomi SUV sits quite low and has a long front. In terms of design, it should be at least somewhat comparable to the Xiaomi SU7.

There will likely be both single- and dual-engine versions of the SUV, and it’s highly likely that the engine lineup will be identical to that of the SU7. This means that for the single-motor versions there will be a 220 kW electric motor with a maximum torque of 400 Nm on the rear axle. The double-motor version has a 220 kW electric motor with 338 Nm on the front axle and a 275 kW electric motor with 500 Nm of torque on the rear axle.

There are three battery packs available for the SU7: 73.6 kWh, 94.3 kWh and 101 kWh respectively. It is possible that the same battery packs are used in the SUV. The two smaller packs are lithium iron phosphate units, while the largest uses NCM battery chemistry.

Currently, the Xiaomi SUV is expected to launch in the first quarter of 2025 and may closely follow the launch pattern of the SU7.
