Former Volkswagen Group CEO Herbert Diess is known for his friendship with Nio’s co-founder William Li. Mr. Diess often emphasized the high competitiveness of Chinese startups such as Nio or Xpeng. He also met with William Li in September. This time, the former VW leader became one of the first to test the Nio’s ultimate flagship, the ET9 EV.

Nio is actively warming up the public for Nio Day 2024 on December 21. That’s why the Chinese automaker shared a video in which William Li’s business friends shared their feedback about the Nio ET9.

Some of those people have nothing to do with the automotive segment. For example, the chairman and CEO of home appliance manufacturer Midea, Paul Fang. Other business friends included the CEO of Horizon Robotics, smart driving solutions provider Yu Kai, the CEO of Bertelsmann China Corporate Center Annabelle Yu Long, and the ex-CEO of Volkswagen Group Herbert Diess.

In a short excerpt, Yu Kai described the Nio ET9 as luxurious and technological. Paul Fang admitted that the ET9 exceeded his initial expectations. Annabelle Yu Long said this car is great. And of course, Herbert praised Diess after a test drive, saying ET9 “is impossible.”

The electric sedan is built on 925V architecture and supports 5C fast charging, which can add 255 km of CLTC range in 5 minutes. Another nice feature of the car is the Skyride stabilization system. This allows this car to play table football or drive over speed bumps with glasses of champagne.

The Nio ET9 will officially debut in China on December 21, Nio Day 2024. The price tag will start at around 800,000 yuan (112,000 USD).
