- A brand new Toyota Land Cruiser was seriously damaged in the first reported accident in the US
- The model is a 2024 Land Cruiser First Edition and its condition suggests it has been totaled.
- There is no information about the driver or any passengers.
It’s only been a few months since the first 2024 Toyota Land Cruisers were handed over to American customers, but unfortunately one has already been added up. Photos of the first known accident involving the brand new Land Cruiser have surfaced online and show the vehicle in a rather sorry state.
The crash appears to have occurred on US soil, although the exact location remains uncertain. Additionally, the two photos uploaded to Reddit and X focus entirely on the SUV, obscuring any view of other vehicles that may be involved in the wreck.

Based on the alloy wheels and roof rack, the 2024 Land Cruiser in the photos is likely the First Edition version with a black exterior. The top front has been torn off, exposing the inside of the engine. The headlight, hood, fender and door trim are missing and the windshield is shattered.
While there is no information on injuries, the condition of the cabin offers some optimism about the safety of the driver and any occupants. Nevertheless, we sincerely hope that they emerged unscathed, despite what was undoubtedly a harrowing experience.

Based on the aftermath, one Reddit user speculated that the SUV may have sideswiped a semi-truck, which could explain the upper body damage. Interestingly, the bumper appears to be largely intact, indicating that this was likely not a typical front-end collision with another car.
In addition to several body panels being cracked or missing, the Land Cruiser also suffered significant drivetrain damage and a bent A-pillar. Given this extensive damage and the high repair costs, it is reasonable to assume that the vehicle is considered a total loss as repairs would not be financially feasible.
Review: 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser is the 4-runner for adults
The base MSRP for a 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser First Edition is $74,950. Hopefully the owner avoided the huge dealer surcharges, which were as much as $30,000 above MSRP when they first came out. With any luck, their insurance will handle the damage, although finding another Land Cruiser can be quite a challenge.
