July 19 marks the official unveiling date of the highly anticipated BMW M5 at the 2024 BMW M Festival in Poland. This two-day extravaganza goes beyond a static unveiling and offers an exciting immersion into the world of BMW M with the Bavarian carmaker’s ultimate expression of sedan performance.

As with the South African edition of the car festival, participants can get behind the wheel of the latest M and i cars on the track with expert instructors, or even hone their drifting skills in special courses. The star of the show during the edition in Poland will undoubtedly be the introduction of the new M5. This event will be the first opportunity to see the car lose its camouflage and reveal its final, aggressive shape.
Rumors suggest that the M5 will borrow its powertrain from the BMW XM SUV. That means a monstrous combination of a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine and an electric motor. This brutal collaboration is expected to deliver a staggering 535 kW of power, a significant jump from the already impressive 460 kW of the outgoing M5 Competition.

While official details remain under wraps, reports suggest the M5 may have a slightly smaller battery pack compared to the XM (around 18.6 kWh). This setup should still deliver an all-electric range of about 42 miles, allowing for quiet cruising and fuel savings.
The M Festival is not just about the unveiling of the M5. The company says gearheads can experience the thrill of racing simulators, take exhilarating helicopter flights and witness a parade of the best M cars ever produced.
