Cadillac wants its V-Series electric performance car to be luxurious and fast
Cadillac is moving toward electrification, but that doesn’t mean the V-Series will have to die with its combustion performance cars. The brand has just released the first teaser for its ‘Opulent Velocity’ concept car.
The teaser was released just before the 12 Hours of Sebring, where Cadillac unveiled its first V-Series car exactly twenty years ago, and the concept mentions the two qualities the V-Series most expects from it: luxury and speed.
Unfortunately, Cadillac is still playing its cards close to its chest and has revealed little about this new concept. The teaser video did give some hints as to what it will look like.

Although only visible in blurry, high-speed shots, Cadillac’s signature vertical light signatures can be seen front and rear. The car also looks long, low and wide, and while it’s too early to say for sure, it looks like it could share its roofline with the ultra-chic Celestiq.
Cadillac hasn’t revealed any performance specs yet, but we know that GM’s EV platform can deliver up to 1,000 hp (746 kW / 1,014 hp) thanks to the GMC Hummer. That’s enough to accelerate the 4,111 kg (9,063 pound) SUV to 60 mph (96 km/h) in about three seconds, so impressive performance shouldn’t be a problem.
Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait until Cadillac fully unveils the concept to know what performance the upcoming V-Series performance cars will offer.
“Opulent Velocity is designed to herald a zero-emission expression of performance and modern luxury leadership,” said Bryan Nesbitt, executive director of Cadillac Global Design. “We will share more later this year, so stay tuned.”
