Porsche designed this sickly looking spaceship for a new video game

Porsche does a lot of cool things outside of building cars. The brand has clothing, shoes, accessories – even skyscrapers. But you can’t buy Porsche’s latest project until you’re a character in the upcoming video game. Intergalactic: The Heretical Prophet.

Porsche collaborated with developer Naughty Dog (Crash Bandicoot, Not mapped, The last of us) to dream up a custom spaceship specifically for the studio’s latest intergalactic sci-fi thriller. It’s called the Porsche 984 Tempest NDX, referring to the two-seater concept car from the 1980s that never went into production. And it is the main mode of transportation for the game’s protagonist, bounty hunter Jordan A. Mun.

Apart from the badging, there isn’t much to indicate the ship’s Porsche roots. A huge illuminated ‘PORSCHE’ wordmark naturally covers the rear, with the ‘984 Tempest NDX’ nameplate in the iconic cursive Porsche font just below. There even appears to be a subtle Porsche emblem on the outside of the cockpit, which you may have spotted in the game’s first trailer.

The ship looks quite futuristic on the inside, with a handful of retro ’80s technology fitted into the cabin as well, which suits the game. Blade Runner-like aesthetic. It even has a jukebox-style Sony CD player that Mun uses to play some sweet tunes, like in this case the Pet Shop Boys.

The game itself doesn’t have a release date, but it probably won’t go on sale until sometime in 2026. As for Porsche, this isn’t the automaker’s first custom-designed spaceship. In 2020, Porsche created a ‘starship’ for the then-upcoming film Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, called the Tri-Wing S-91x Pegasus Starfighter.

Of the two, we prefer Porsche’s latest version of an intergalactic sports car.
