Alfa Romeo builds the first customer copy of the modern 33 Stradale

The first customer copy of the modern Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale has been delivered, just over a year after the sultry supercar was first shown.

The car was completed on December 17, the same day in 1966 Italian designer and coachbuilder Franco Scaglione was commissioned to come up with the design for the original 33 Stradale, of which only 18 examples were built between 1967 and 1969.

The modern successor will be built in a limited edition of 33 copies. All buyers are part of an exclusive group known as Club 33, which was formed during the 2022 Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix, where Alfa Romeo first announced plans for the supercar.

As members of Club 33, buyers were able to meet Alfa Romeo engineers and designers to help shape the development of the 33 Stradale and ask for personal details.

The 33 Stradale shares a lot in common with the MC20 supercar from fellow Stellantis brand Maserati, including the carbon fiber chassis and 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Alfa Romeo started working on the car late last decade, when it planned to launch it with a different design as the 8C successor.

The 33 Stradale’s engine is a mid-mounted 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-6 that Alfa Romeo says is an evolution of the twin-turbocharged V-6 found in models like the Giulia and Stelvio, instead of the engine in the MC20. , also a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6. The Alfa Romeo engine does power of 620 hpwhich corresponds to the power of the Maserati engine. Drive is provided exclusively to the rear wheels via an electronic limited-slip differential, and Alfa Romeo has claimed 0-62mph in under three seconds and a top speed of 205mph.

Alfa Romeo has also made a promise electric powertrain for the 33 Stradale. When unveiled last year, Alfa Romeo said the electric powertrain would deliver 750 horsepower. However, the automaker did not say whether any of the 33 buyers opted for it. Maserati is also planning an electric version of the MC20.
