Sometimes there’s something melodramatic about large SUVs and crossovers. They look like you can invade Poland, but they often have great difficulty with a few major barriers. It may also all be a bit too serious, with drivers who take themselves and life far too seriously. Fortunately, here is the Hyundai Inster Cross.
We can be very clear: this car is so cute, funny and mischievous. And touching. We’ll just use the dog analogy because it always works. Look, a Range Rover Sport walks like a Staffordshire terrier with a steel collar with spikes. An excellent lobbe, but people are impressed by it. The Hyundai Inster Cross is one of those small Basset Hound puppies that holds its own leash and trips over its own ears.
Cool looks for the show
It doesn’t get much cuter. The basis is the Hyundai Inster, which is already a crossover-like car. In this case they have decorated it with cool bumpers, dark gray 17-inch wheels and steel protection plates for when you go off-road. We wonder if anyone will ever do that, especially since the car is still front-wheel drive, but still.
The roof rack is also cool, nowadays a mandatory component if you want to be taken seriously as an off-roader. Also unique to the Hyundai Inster Cross is the choice of five two-tone color schemes. The interior is also different: gray with bright green stitching. Furthermore, it seems to be the same as the regular Inster.
Hyundai Inster Cross: reality versus sketches
Hyundai was also kind enough to share a few sketches with us. They look a bit like the difference between a Tinder profile photo and the real thing. You see the similarities, but also the differences. Think of it this way: the Hyundai Inster Cross thinks that it looks like those sketches. Because of its small size it is especially very touching.

Then of course there is the question: will the Hyundai Inster Cross also come to the Netherlands? That is not completely known yet. The normal Inster will be available at the end of the year. This Cross version will not be included anyway. Hopefully he will follow suit later. It is the ideal car to bring along to chic occasions to break the ice. Or to get dog food.
