2026 Genesis Electrified G80 gets longer wheelbase, digital display

  • Genesis’ midsize electric luxury sedan has gotten longer
  • The Electrified G80’s extra length extends to the rear seat for a more spacious and luxurious experience
  • Refreshed electrified G80s will arrive in the US as 2026 models

The Genesis electrified G80 is one of the better electric vehicles in the mid-range segment, despite not being based on a dedicated EV platform.

Now Genesis has improved things further with a series of updates that enhance the luxury and refinement of the Electrified G80. It is the first update since the arrival of the 2023 model year of the electric sedan.

The updated Electrified G80, unveiled Thursday at the 2024 Busan auto show in Korea, has a wheelbase that grown about five centimetersbringing the length to about 123.6 inches. This has resulted in additional room for rear-seat passengers. Genesis said it has also made changes to reduce noise levels.

Another important change is the introduction of a single 27-inch screen consisting of both a digital gauge cluster and a touchscreen infotainment system. This display is also introduced in the gas-powered G80 and replaces the current design that uses two separate displays. New luxury features such as a push-button door lock system, executive-style rear seats with leg rests, and a rear window curtain have also been added. These items are normally reserved for luxury sedans priced above the $80,000-range Electrified G80.

On the outside, the designers have added a revised front fascia, new ones 19-inch dish-shaped wheelsan electronically controlled charging port cover and headlights with microlens array technology. The technology uses thousands of tiny lenses to focus the light emitted by an LED, creating brighter, more homogenized illumination.

No change was mentioned for the powertrain. The Electrified G80 is currently powered by a dual-motor, all-wheel drive powertrain that produces 365 horsepower. An 87.2 kWh battery is fitted as standard and will provide a range of 452 miles, according to the EPA.

Genesis has confirmed that the updated Electrified G80 will be available for the 2026 model year in the US, meaning a showroom arrival is likely sometime next year. Specifications for this market will be announced later.

Genesis also used the Busan auto show to showcase the X Gran Racer Vision Gran Turismo, a hypercar concept with track use in mind. While there are no plans for a production hypercar in Genesis’ near future, the brand is developing its performance cars. They’re being developed by the recently established sub-brand Magma, and Genesis has hinted at both the gas-powered G80 and Electrified G80 eventually getting the Magma treatment.
